Online Psychological Counseling

Online Psychological Counseling is a psychological support service dedicated to students of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Education (FITK) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This service is designed to assist students facing psychological challenges, particularly those affecting their academic journey. Initially launched as a pilot project from November to December 2021, this service continues to evolve and undergo adjustments based on ongoing evaluations and recommendations. Currently, there are five key psychological service features accessible to students:

1. Mental Health Early Detection

Through this service, students can conduct an initial self-assessment of their mental health status by completing a provided questionnaire. This early detection tool aims to help students recognize their psychological well-being and determine whether they require professional counseling support.

2. Individual Counseling

This service provides students with one-on-one counseling sessions conducted by professional psychologists. To access this service, students must first register and complete an initial assessment via the provided Google Form. Registered students will then be contacted to receive a queue number and a scheduled counseling session. The attending psychologists hold a valid License to Practice Psychology (Surat Ijin Praktek Psikologi / SIPP) from the Indonesian Psychological Association (Himpunan Psikolog Indonesia / HIMPSI) and a Registration Certificate (Surat Tanda Registrasi / STR) from the Indonesian Clinical Psychologist Association (Ikatan Psikolog Klinis Indonesia / IPK-Indonesia). They are professionally sworn, ensuring that all services strictly adhere to the established psychological code of ethics. The registration procedures are as follows:

5. Find a Psychologist

In Indonesia, professional psychologists generally specialize in three major areas: Clinical Psychologists, Educational Psychologists, and Industrial and Organizational (I/O) Psychologists.

  • Clinical Psychologists focus on understanding and providing intervention for individuals experiencing clinically diagnosed psychological disorders, such as psychosis, depression, and anxiety. They commonly practice in healthcare facilities, including hospitals and community health centers (Puskesmas).

  • Educational Psychologists are tasked with analyzing the psychological conditions of students and educators, particularly regarding learning disorders, academic motivation, as well as teaching and learning activities. They generally practice in schools or educational institutions.

  • Industrial and Organizational (I/O) Psychologists focus on human behavior within industrial or workplace settings. They typically practice in corporate environments, addressing issues such as employee performance, work stress, recruitment, and job placement.

Students seeking psychological services can choose a professional based on the specific nature of their challenges. Various organizations publish directories of verified psychological practices. One such directory is provided by the Indonesian Clinical Psychologist Association (IPK-Indonesia), which lists over 300 clinical psychology practices across Indonesia to ensure the public receives trusted and professional care. The directory can be accessed via the following link: https://ipk.bz/caripsikolog.

For students residing within the Sleman Regency and Yogyakarta City areas, clinical psychologists are also available and practicing in almost all local community health centers (Puskesmas).
