Friday, August 27, 2021, the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held a Doctoral Promotion Examination in the Field of Islamic Education on behalf of Rubini, S.Pd.I M.Pd.I with the dissertation title "Construction of Thought on Children's Character Education According to Al Zarnuji and John Locke."The trial was held in Room A. Mukti Ali on the 2nd floor of the Yogyakarta University Hotel by implementing the Covid-19 health protocol.

The findings of Rubini's research are that the first construction of children's character education thinking, according to Al Zarnuji, is a religion to produce sound, civilized, and pious human beings. In contrast, the structure of children's character education thinking, according to John Locke, consists of 3 stages, namely the development of a healthy body in children, such as: dealing with the weather, choosing clothes, maintaining good food intake, managing good sleep patterns and how to prevent disease.The twothoughts of the two figures - Al Zarnuji and John Locke - according to Rubini, are relevant to character education in Indonesia during the current pandemic.

Rubini is the first batch of doctoral students in the Islamic Religious Education Study Program (PAI) at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training at the State Islamic University (UIN)Sunan Kalijaga(Suka) Yogyakarta who won a doctorate after being able to defend his dissertation in front of a promotion session.

The Open Examination Session was led directly by the Chancellor ofUIN,Sunan Kalijaga, Prof.Dr. Phil.Al Makin, MA, accompanied by the Secretary, Prof.Dr.H. Abdul Munip, M.Ag.(Vice Dean I Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training).

Present as Promoter I and at the same time examiner I, Prof.Dr.H. Margustam, MA, and Promoter II, Dr.H. Sembodo Ardi Widodo, M.Ag. They are acting as an examiner, Dr.Usman, SS., M.Ag., Prof.Dr.Sangkot Sirait, M.Ag., Prof.Dr.Hj.Sri Sumarni, M.Pd., and Prof.Dr.Anik Ghufron, M.Pd., Professor of Yogyakarta State University.

The Dean of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Prof.Dr.Hj.Sri Sumarni, M.Pd, said that 2015 was a historic year because that year was the beginning of the integration of the Master's Program into the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training.Since then, the faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training has continued to improve and develop itself in academics, management, facilities,s and infrastructure. At the same time, the PAI doctoral program was officially opened in 2017 based on the Decree of the Director General of Islamic Education of the Ministry of Religion Number 5463 dated October 5, 2017 (Mex).
